Goat is a truly British brand, established by founder and designer Jane Lewis in 2001. The label now synonymous with understated luxury began life as a cashmere range for the fashion cognoscenti, and has since developed into a full ready-to-wear collection. Signature luxury knits have been complemented by equally recognisable separates, dresses and outerwear.

“Over my time as Creative Director at Goat Fashion, I have learned a lot and achieved more than I could ever have dreamed of. Becoming an entrepreneur is a huge decision and I had to be incredibly passionate about the idea I had envisioned, and believe in the potential of my business. Seeing Goat Fashion grow over the past 15 years has been so worthwhile, and the accomplishments easily outweigh any challenges I’ve faced as an entrepreneur. Looking back at how far my business and I have come makes me incredibly proud, and I wouldn’t change any of it for the world.”

In order to be a successful luxury entrepreneur what are three pieces of advice you would give?

Have a clear vision, courage and resilience.

What are the most important lessons you have learned along your journey?

Delegation is a strength not a weakness. Know your limitations.

What are the watch outs along the way?

Maintain a keen eye on the balance sheet at all times. A comprehensive understanding is the lynch pin of a thriving business.

When you were started out who was your biggest inspiration? And what did they tell you that helped make you a success?
